PROJECT STATUS

Karma Wind Farm is in the early stages of development. It aims to receive planning approval from the Queensland State Government under State code 23: Wind farm development of the State Development Assessment Provisions. The planning approval considers environmental impacts, visual impacts, noise, traffic, construction and operation impacts and community feedback.

The wind farm will generate enough energy to power: approximately 265,000 houses annually when fully operational and prevent: approximately 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

About the project

Karma Wind Farm welcomes the opportunity to work with residents and the community to address project concerns. You can submit questions here or attend our Community Meetings.

Karma Wind Farm is a proposed renewable energy development located 50km west of Ingham in Queensland. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

The Project will deliver 600MW of renewable wind energy to the national electricity grid and contribute to the Queensland Government’s renewable energy generation target of 70% by 2032.

Once fully operational, Karma Wind Farm will provide enough clean energy to power approximately 265,000 houses each year and prevent the emission of up to 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

The Project site is located 50km west of Ingham in north Queensland.

The Project will employ around 200 people during construction and 20 maintenance and operational staff once fully operational. A focus of the Project will be to secure local labour and materials.

Prior to, during, and after construction, the Project will contribute to the community in a targeted and meaningful way via a Community Benefit Fund.
